Telemedicine consent
Effective from 2026-04-26. Last reviewed 2026-04-26 by counsel — placeholder for v1.
You acknowledge and consent to the following before you can book a consult on Atlas. We capture your acknowledgement (versioned, time-stamped) on the consents table and surface the version id at the start of every consult.
This consent is governed by the MoHFW Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020, the Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations 2002, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023.
1. The doctor will be a registered medical practitioner
Every doctor on Atlas is registered with a State or National Medical Council. The registration number and council are surfaced on the doctor profile and verified by our operations team at activation.
2. The consult is a doctor-patient relationship
When you book a consult, a doctor-patient relationship is formed. The doctor is bound by confidentiality, professional ethics, and the standard of care of an in-person consult.
The doctor may decide that telemedicine is not appropriate for your case and refer you for an in-person visit. Atlas does not pressure doctors to consult on cases they consider out-of-scope.
3. What we will not prescribe
Schedule X / narcotic / psychotropic substances: blocked at the UI and backend. Cannot be prescribed via Atlas under any circumstances.
Schedule H1 first-time prescriptions: video consult required, with verifiable identity.
Items requiring physical examination: doctor will refer you for in-person review.
4. Recordings and notes
Video consults are recorded with your consent. Recordings are encrypted, retained 3+ years in our Cloudflare R2 storage, and accessible only to the consulting doctor and (anonymised) for our medical safety review board.
The doctor writes private SOAP-style notes (not visible to you) and a patient summary (visible to you in Account → Consult history).
5. Adverse events
If you experience any adverse reaction to a recommended product or protocol, stop use immediately and contact us via WhatsApp or email. Adverse events are reported to FSSAI per pharmacovigilance requirements.
In a medical emergency: dial 102 (ambulance) or 108 (emergency response). Atlas is not an emergency service.
6. Withdrawal
You can withdraw consent at any time. Future consults will be paused. Past consult records remain in our system per MoHFW retention requirements but you can request anonymisation under DPDP rights.
7. Versioning
When this consent is updated, you will be asked to re-acknowledge before your next consult. Version history is on file.
